About the role#
We are looking for an IT Helpdesk Intern to join our Information Technology team for an 8-month co-op term. This role begins in January 2027 and is based on-site in Vancouver. You will gain exposure to real-world projects while supporting the technology that enables our scientific discovery work.
What you'll do#
- Track and respond to incoming requests for IT technical support from employees in person, via email, or through our internal ticketing system.
- Assist with the management of user accounts and software subscriptions.
- Configure new computers, which includes installing operating systems, deploying user profiles, and setting up hardware for new or existing staff.
- Manage office hardware such as printers and scanners.
- Maintain accurate IT inventory lists.
- Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing hardware or software failures and engaging senior staff when needed.
- Assist with ad hoc IT projects.
What you'll need#
- At least 2 years of post-secondary education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Practical experience troubleshooting Windows or MacOS computers.
- A good working knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent documentation and organizational habits with high attention to detail.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work well within a team.

- Compensation: This is a paid position with a monthly range of CAD $3,300 to $4,300.
