About the role#
Advanced Behavioral Health Inc. is hiring a Therapeutic Mentor to support students in grades K-12 within the STARS program. This role focuses on helping students overcome school refusal behaviors and improving attendance. You will work directly with students to build social-emotional skills and provide coaching that reinforces their therapeutic goals. The position is based in Westminster, Maryland, and involves a wraparound approach to mental health care.
What you'll do#
- Provide individualized coaching and skills-based support to students.
- Facilitate structured group sessions and learning activities to promote social-emotional growth.
- Communicate regularly with students, their families, and the treatment team to support continuity of care.
- Collaborate with STARS Program Therapists and other stakeholders to coordinate services.
- Implement specific therapeutic and rehabilitation activities from individualized treatment plans.
- Connect students and families with school and community resources to remove barriers to attendance.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a health-related field. Alternatively, you may have 30 college credits in a health-related field or one year of experience in a supervised mental health setting.
- Prior experience working with troubled youth.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A valid, unrestricted driver’s license and reliable transportation.

- This is a full-time, on-site position located in Westminster, Maryland.
