About the role#
The Manufacturing Intern will work at the Specialty Engineered Materials facility in Avon Lake. This role provides hands-on exposure to plant operations, quality systems, and maintenance coordination. You will work with various teams, including engineering, warehouse, and EHS, to support daily production and long-term performance goals. This is a paid, full-time internship for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Support manufacturing operations through production data collection and operational follow-up.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, productivity, and waste reduction.
- Track and report key performance indicators such as production performance and safety actions.
- Support root cause analysis by gathering data and documenting findings.
- Help document standard operating procedures and training materials.
- Participate in team meetings, project reviews, and floor walks to learn about manufacturing leadership.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
- Strong interest in manufacturing operations, process improvement, safety, and quality.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and summarize findings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior internship or manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.
