About the role#
This 10-month articling position offers practical legal experience within our claims litigation team. You will work in a supportive environment, receiving mentorship and regular feedback as you develop your skills as an advocate. This is a full-time, paid role designed to provide hands-on training in insurance law.
What you'll do#
- Prepare affidavits and develop theories of the case.
- Conduct research on substantive and procedural legal issues.
- Attend motions, examinations for discovery, settlement conferences, and mediations.
- Assist with preparing clients and witnesses for LAT hearings and Superior Court trials.
- Formulate and articulate well-reasoned legal arguments and submissions.
What you'll need#
- Coursework in Tort, Legal Research and Writing, Trial Advocacy, Civil Procedure, Evidence, or Insurance Law.
- Exceptional analytical, legal research, and document drafting skills.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
- A degree or background in Criminal Justice is accepted.
