    About the role#

    The Washington, DC Regional Office is seeking a part-time legal intern for the winter 2027 term. This position supports litigation and advocacy efforts regarding air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, water protection, energy efficiency, and zero-emission transportation. You will work under the supervision of a licensed attorney.

    What you'll do#

    • Support case development and litigation projects.
    • Draft pleadings, briefs, and legal memoranda.
    • Conduct legal and factual research.
    • Analyze caselaw, regulatory, and policy questions.
    • Develop legal theories and gather evidence.
    • Attend client meetings and court proceedings.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment as a 2L or 3L law student during spring 2027.
    • Strong writing, research, analytical, and organizational skills.
    • Experience with legal research tools such as Westlaw.
    • Ability to work both independently and collegially.
    • An interest in public interest law and social justice.
    • Knowledge of environmental and administrative law is helpful but not required.

    Location & details#

    • This is a paid, part-time position requiring a commitment of 20 hours per week for 11 weeks.
    • The hourly rate is $36.86.
    • Work may be performed on a hybrid schedule in Washington, DC or remotely within the United States.
