About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Piedmont, you will support pharmacists in the daily operations of the pharmacy. This role involves managing drug procurement, distribution, and documentation while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. You will work directly with various patient populations, including infants, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients, to ensure safe medication practices.
What you'll do#
- Prepare medication admixtures for IV solutions, including unit dose syringes and chemotherapy medications.
- Assist with the compounding of solutions and medications for critical care and surgical areas.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels throughout assigned hospital areas.
- Provide drug information and patient education under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Complete projects such as staff education, clinical data collection, and analysis.
- Apply knowledge of dosages and volumes specific to different patient age groups.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance to an accredited school or college of pharmacy.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern registration with the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy upon hire.
- Previous experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
