    About the role#

    The Gern laboratory at the Center for Global Infectious Disease Research is looking for an undergraduate researcher to join our team. You will support daily lab operations and assist members with ongoing research experiments. We focus on studying spatially resolved immune responses to tuberculosis using mouse models and human tissues to help inform new vaccine and therapy strategies.

    What you'll do#

    • Facilitate day-to-day lab operations, including organization, supply ordering, and record keeping.
    • Assist lab members with experiments and contribute to ongoing research projects.
    • Perform advanced confocal microscopy techniques.
    • Manage a small rodent colony, including genotyping tasks like DNA extraction, PCR, and gel electrophoresis.
    • Set up immunological assays, flow cytometry, and cell culture work.
    • Design, execute, and interpret experiments, with opportunities to conduct mentored research as you gain experience.

    What you'll need#

    • You must be 18 years or older.
    • Current enrollment in high school, or an undergraduate degree program, or taking courses to meet prerequisite requirements for a future degree.
    • Ability to exercise independent judgment to address tasks and projects.
    • Majors in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or Chemistry are relevant to this work.
    • An interest in learning new scientific methods and performing work carefully.

    • This is a paid, full-time position with a rolling term.
