About the role#
The Lab Engineer intern supports geotechnical engineering projects by conducting soil and rock testing in our in-house laboratory. This role focuses on sample preparation, execution of standardized tests, and maintaining a clean, efficient workspace. You will work directly with our team to ensure data accuracy and project success. This is a rolling internship with the possibility of extensions based on performance.
What you'll do#
- Process and prepare soil and rock samples upon arrival at the lab.
- Conduct geotechnical tests following ASTM or AASHTO protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all test procedures, observations, and results.
- Clean and wash reusable laboratory equipment.
- Manage daily operations, including packaging and shipping field equipment, restocking lab supplies, and coordinating soil disposal.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, geology, environmental sciences, or materials sciences.
- Ability to walk and stand for 6-8 hours per shift.
- Capacity to independently lift, move, push, and pull weights between 25 and 50 lbs.
- Prior experience in a geotechnical or materials testing laboratory is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety protocols.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- Work schedule is Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends as needed.
