About the role#
This internship provides foreign pharmacy graduates with the opportunity to complete required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. The program is designed to build upon your existing education and prepare you for pharmacist licensure exams. You must complete your internship within 18 months and obtain state pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment while delivering quality patient care.
- Process prescriptions including SIG code translation, product selection, and labeling.
- Resolve third party rejections and manage inventory according to company policies.
- Counsel patients under direct supervision and communicate with other healthcare professionals.
- Perform register transactions and assist customers in a professional manner.
- Support the pharmacy manager in developing staff and identifying business solutions to improve performance.
- Participate in store operational meetings and coordinate training for pharmacy support staff.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA standards.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- Active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and 10 lbs frequently.
- Strong skills in communication, active listening, emotional intelligence, and time management.
- Proficiency in digital literacy and results-oriented problem solving.
