About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while you prepare for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist. You will assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and patients receive safe, accurate, and prompt service.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap including Key Learning Experiences.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations such as production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide empathetic care to patients and assist with medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Mentor pharmacy team members and share best practices.
- Manage basic inventory tasks like putting away deliveries and completing cycle counts.
- Deliver patient services including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients on vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and mathematical reasoning.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly between responsibilities.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach overhead, and lift up to 20 lbs.
- At least 1 year of related experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting is preferred.
- Willingness to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Ability to become immunization certified.

- This is an on-site, part-time position located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- The role follows a rolling term structure.
