About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This position involves gaining hands-on experience under the direction of a preceptor while supporting pharmacy operations and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly.
- Support the pharmacy team in filling prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Perform workflow procedures including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service to patients and assist with medical questions under supervision.
- Offer immunizations and point-of-care testing where allowed by law.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts and medication deliveries.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to other pharmacy team members.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- At least 1 year of related experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
