About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Encompass Health, you will support our inpatient rehabilitation pharmacy operations. This role focuses on inventory management, medication preparation, and accurate record-keeping to ensure patients receive timely care. You will work under the supervision of pharmacists to handle daily pharmacy tasks and maintain compliance with hospital policies.
What you'll do#
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storage according to the drug formulary.
- Prepare and replace medications, including filling dispense machines and unit-dose supplies.
- Maintain floor stock levels for medications and IVs, including routine checks of narcotic inventory.
- Reconcile narcotics and manage the administration records in the sign-out files.
- Review patient pharmacy profiles to support accurate billing and handle protected health information.
- Complete pharmacy inspection manuals and transfer charges to the business office.
- Prioritize and fill orders for pharmacist verification, ensuring STAT orders are delivered promptly.
- Conduct daily rounds to inspect emergency drug boxes and automated dispensing machines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an approved professional pharmacy degree program, or status as a graduate of an approved program.
- You must meet the state board of pharmacy registration or licensure requirements for your location.
- Candidates must be progressing toward pharmacist licensure, hold an FPGEC certificate, or be awaiting examination for licensure.
