About the role#
Envita Solutions is looking for a Software Engineering Intern to join our Digital Innovation team for the summer. You will work on AI-powered applications that handle document processing, knowledge retrieval, and workflow automation. This role focuses on software engineering, where you will improve data quality, system observability, and test coverage. You will gain practical experience in how LLM and agent-based systems function in a production environment.
What you'll do#
- Follow all Health and Safety policies and processes.
- Profile, clean, deduplicate, and normalize structured and unstructured datasets.
- Improve logging, error handling, and monitoring for Python and C# services.
- Build and harden integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, and scripting.
- Refactor code, add automated tests, and improve documentation.
- Contribute to LLM features including structured data extraction, retrieval, and agent workflows.
- Deliver small proof-of-concept tools and automations.
- Partner with technology and business teams to understand system requirements.
- Participate in standard development workflows, including version control, code reviews, and CI.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore, junior, senior, recent graduate, or 1st/2nd-year master's student.
- Major in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI/ML, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience writing Python for real applications, such as scripts, services, or data pipelines.
- Experience consuming or building REST APIs and webhook-based integrations.
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows, including branching and pull requests.
- Proficiency in Python and a working knowledge of SQL.
- Understanding of software engineering fundamentals like testing, debugging, and logging.
- Foundational knowledge of LLM-based applications, including prompting, retrieval, and agent orchestration.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical decisions effectively.
- Exposure to LLM tooling, cloud platforms like Azure, and containerized deployments is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship located in Indianapolis, Indiana.
- The term is for Summer 2027.
