About the role#
Ephemeris Net is building infrastructure to extend the internet to space. As an engineering intern, you will work on optical terminals for laser communications and the networking services that connect satellites. You will be matched with a project based on your background and company needs. Your work will either fly on orbit or advance our internal network and node simulations. You will have a dedicated mentor and present your results to the team at the end of your term.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement optical transceiver FPGA firmware.
- Build a space network simulator.
- Design and fabricate test fixtures or mechanical subsystems for optical terminal prototypes.
- Build high speed optoelectronic communication test equipment.
- Write embedded flight software.
What you'll need#
- Demonstrated ability to build things through personal projects, research, coursework, or prior internships.
- Strong fundamentals in at least one of the following: embedded systems, FPGA development, software engineering, optical or mechanical design, electrical engineering, information theory, or networking.
- Must be a US person.
- Ability to work on-site 3 days a week.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
