About the role#
The GIFFORDS Courage Fellowship is a program for individuals between the ages of 18 and 24. Fellows gain advocacy skills and work to reduce gun violence. You will learn from policy experts, meet with lawmakers, and build a network of fellow activists. This is a paid, full-time fellowship based in Colorado.
What you'll do#
- Attend in-person trainings in Colorado and participate in virtual sessions.
- Develop and implement a community engagement project, such as a voter registration drive or town hall.
- Meet with lawmakers to discuss gun violence prevention.
- Participate in quarterly check-ins with GIFFORDS staff.
- Join the Courage Fellowship Ambassador Program to mentor future fellows and represent the organization at events.
What you'll need#
- Strong ties to Colorado and plans to remain in the state.
- A demonstrated interest in politics, community organizing, or activism.
- Eagerness to learn new skills and openness to different perspectives.
- Passion for fighting gun violence.
- Willingness to commit to the full training schedule and the post-program Ambassador requirements.
- Preferred academic backgrounds include Political Science, Sociology, Communications, Public Health, or Psychology.

- This position is paid, and all program-related travel, food, and hotel costs are covered by GIFFORDS.

GIFFORDS is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC. Founded in 2013, the group focuses on public policy related to gun violence prevention. It operates the GIFFORDS Law Center to research and draft safety legislation. The organization also runs a political action committee to support elected officials.
