About the role#
High Tech High is seeking School-based Mental Health Interns to provide counseling support across our campuses. You will work under the direction of an assigned clinical supervisor who provides at least one hour of individual or two hours of group supervision each week. This is a part-time, hourly position for Summer 2026.
What you'll do#
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling to help students manage behavioral and emotional challenges.
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on student needs.
- Attend IEP and 504 meetings to contribute to student planning.
- Act as a student advocate to coordinate services or resolve crises.
- Refer students and families to community resources or specialists.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and track student progress.
- Maintain accurate treatment records and reports while ensuring student confidentiality.
What you'll need#
- A Masters Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Counseling, or Marriage and Family Counseling.
- A valid California license as an Associate Social Worker (ASW) or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT).
- A California Pupil Personnel Services credential is desired.
- Experience working in a California School District.
- Experience working with at-risk or special education students.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with students, parents, and staff.

- This role is located in California and requires on-site work.
- This is a paid, part-time internship (25-30 hours per week).
