About the role#
This internship supports advanced radar research within the Plant Optimization team. You will contribute to projects involving classical and quantum-radar approaches for detecting and tracking high-speed drones, low-RCS targets, and multiple targets. You may also develop multi-agent reinforcement learning algorithms to improve spectrum sharing. This is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Model and evaluate radar detection and tracking approaches.
- Develop reinforcement learning algorithms for spectrum sharing.
- Work on-site at the Idaho Falls campus on a 9x80 schedule.
- Collaborate with the Plant Optimization team on research objectives.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Master or Doctorate program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
- Experience or coursework in MATLAB and Python.
- Knowledge of high performance computing modeling and simulation methods like Markov-Chains, Bayesian Models, Discrete Event, or Stochastic Random Processes.
- Experience with radar simulation tools.
- Background in critical infrastructure systems.
- Statistics and big data analysis skills, including spatial modeling, geostatistics, uncertainty analysis, and error propagation.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and perform standard office and laboratory physical tasks.
- Submission of a resume, unofficial transcripts, and current class schedule.
