About the role#
This internship provides practical experience in public media, journalism, and political science at Kentucky Educational Television. You will work alongside professionals to create and promote public affairs programs. Work occurs at the Lexington Network Center, with additional production support required in Frankfort. This is a paid position that includes an hourly wage and the potential for performance-based stipends.
What you'll do#
- Assist with camera operation and audio tasks in both studio and field settings.
- Help edit footage and create graphics for various programs.
- Run the teleprompter and handle video logging or transcription.
- Research content, legislation, and background information for producers.
- Support guest hospitality and scheduling.
- Contribute to production efforts for programs like Comment on Kentucky, Kentucky Tonight, Kentucky Edition, and News Quiz.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program related to Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or Media Studies.
- Completion of at least 24 academic credit hours and good academic standing.
- Strong writing, computer, and communication skills.
- Ability to commit to at least 120 hours over the course of the semester.
- Flexibility to work evening hours as needed.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods and lift objects up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to travel for work, which may include overnight stays.
