About the role#
MKS Inc. is hiring an Electrical Engineering Intern for a 6 to 8 month co-op term running from January 2027 to August 2027. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Wilmington, Massachusetts. You will work 40+ hours per week in an R&D electronics laboratory setting.
What you'll do#
- Provide technical support for the analysis, design, and testing of power electronics technologies including remote plasma sources, reactive gas generators, and flow measurement.
- Test and characterize high frequency power converters, rectifiers, and inverters alongside senior and principal engineers.
- Manage multiple concurrent cross-functional projects while working independently with limited supervision.
- Interface with product engineering and collaborate within a multifunctional team environment.
- Identify and troubleshoot problems in prototypes.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a relevant field. Senior standing is preferred.
- A basic understanding of power electronics and hands-on experience in an electronics laboratory.
- Proficiency with tools such as oscilloscopes, high voltage probes, and power meters.
- Ability to read and understand schematics, printed circuit board layouts, and C programming language.
- Understanding of power conversion topologies and modulation techniques.
- Experience with simulation tools such as Simulink, MATLAB, PSIM, or Spice.
- Competency with MS Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong analytical, time-management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

- Location: Wilmington, Massachusetts.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January to August).
- Compensation: $27.00 to $31.00 per hour.
- Benefits: Includes 11 paid holidays, sick time, and 15 days of accrued paid vacation.
