    About the role#

    The National Cherry Blossom Festival is hiring teaching artists to lead student workshops and guide the creation of collaborative mural projects. You will work with K-12 students at an assigned school to produce artwork reflecting themes of community and the spring season. This is a temporary, paid position for the winter and spring of 2027.

    What you'll do#

    • Lead at least 10 workshops with students during school hours.
    • Design and facilitate an inclusive process for creating a collaborative mural.
    • Complete and submit the final mural for review by March 8, 2027.
    • Purchase necessary classroom supplies, with reimbursement available up to $500.
    • Complete all required school district clearance processes before beginning work.

    What you'll need#

    • Experience teaching visual arts to K-12 students.
    • Strong skills in classroom facilitation and project management.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative or community-based art projects.
    • Ability to guide students through creative work while meeting project deadlines.
    • Ability to pass mandatory school district clearance checks.
