About the role#
As an IT Service Specialist Intern, you will serve as a primary point of contact for technical support at POET. You will work directly with internal and external customers to resolve a variety of technical issues and contribute to ongoing projects. This is a full-time, on-site internship based in Wichita, Kansas, for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Troubleshoot and repair hardware and software, including desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, telephones, video conferencing equipment, and surveillance systems.
- Manage support requests by prioritizing issues, communicating status updates to users, and maintaining Help Desk trouble tickets.
- Handle the lifecycle of personal computing devices, including inventory, configuration, installation, maintenance, upgrades, and disposal.
- Perform limited network administration tasks such as resetting passwords, managing file permissions, unlocking accounts, and basic server configuration.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and asset tracking systems.
- Collaborate with team members on infrastructure projects, such as Wi-Fi, server, and telephone system upgrades.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of client-server architectures, web technologies, and system development life cycle methodologies.
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
