About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2026 based in New Orleans. You will work under the supervision of senior engineers and specialists to perform routine structural design and analysis tasks. This role is on-site and requires the ability to work in a team environment or independently.
What you'll do#
- Support the creation of finite element models for static and dynamic analyses, including global strength and spectral fatigue.
- Perform structural design and analysis for both new and existing marine structures.
- Use standard beam analysis software and hand calculations to provide engineering conclusions.
- Write technical reports to document your methodology, results, and findings.
- Apply knowledge of marine engineering guidelines, such as ABS and DNV rules.
- Participate in occasional field trips to construction sites or operating plants.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- You have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies at an accredited university.
- You possess a working knowledge of computer software and automated engineering design equipment.
- You are eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Previous internship experience is a plus, as is familiarity with software like Matlab, Python, VBA, Rhinoceros 3D, or Solidworks.
