About the role#
SSR Mining Inc. is hiring a Geology Intern/Coop Student to support the Seabee Gold Operation. This role provides hands-on experience in a remote mining environment. You will work across multiple settings, including the office, core shack, and underground, while collaborating with the Resource Development, Technical Services, and Mine Operations teams.
What you'll do#
- Provide field-level support to surface Resource Development Geologists, including core logging, sampling, mapping, and sample processing.
- Monitor surface drilling operations to ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and program execution parameters.
- Perform data entry tasks in the office as directed.
- Assist underground Resource Development Geologists with face sampling, back mapping, and core logging.
- Support other technical groups including survey, ventilation, mine planning, and rock mechanics as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Geology, Mine Engineering, or Geological Engineering degree or diploma program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- High attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including carrying rock samples for extended periods.
- Professional communication skills for interacting with internal teams and third parties.
- Previous experience with surface exploration or underground mining is an asset.
- Familiarity with geological modeling software like Leapfrog or MX Database is an asset.
Location & details#
- This position is based at our remote camp, approximately 500km northeast of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
- The schedule is 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off, with fly-in fly-out service provided from pick-up points in Saskatoon, Prince Albert, and La Ronge.
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
- Substance testing, including for marijuana, is a requirement for this position.
