About the role#
We are looking for Software Engineering Interns to join our team for a 3-month program in Fall 2026. You will work alongside our engineers to build and ship features that translate language model capabilities into clinical systems. You will receive mentorship and gain hands-on experience designing, coding, and releasing software that impacts clinicians and their workflows.
What you'll do#
- Design and build end-to-end features, including retrieval pipelines and structured tool use.
- Enhance existing systems and contribute to agentic LLM workflows.
- Fix user-facing bugs and make quality-of-life improvements across backend and frontend systems.
- Use evaluation frameworks to measure accuracy, robustness, and clinical reliability.
- Prototype with new models, prompting techniques, and open-source orchestration tools.
- Develop a user-centric mindset by building empathy for clinicians.
- Collaborate across product, design, machine learning, and infrastructure teams.
- Receive guidance from an experienced software engineering mentor.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong interest in pursuing a full-time software engineering role in 2027.
- Proficiency in using AI tools for writing, debugging, and learning.
- A passion for and understanding of the Abridge mission.
- A curious, adaptable, and proactive mindset.
- A collaborative, low-ego approach to teamwork.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
- The role is based on-site at our San Francisco or New York City offices.
- Interns are expected to work from the office 5 days per week.
- Relocation support is provided through reimbursements.
