    About the role#

    Ames Construction hires Field Engineer interns for full-time, paid positions. This is an on-site role with a rolling term. You will work on heavy civil and industrial projects like highways, bridges, mines, and dams.

    What you'll do#

    • Make safety your top priority on every job site.
    • Manage and support your team of construction coworkers.
    • Review and draft technical submittals, including schedules, shop drawings, and work plans.
    • Monitor quality control, safety, and environmental programs.
    • Maintain as-built drawings and project manuals.
    • Build relationships with owners, design partners, and subcontractors.
    • Assist with project layout, material procurement, and contract administration.
    • Resolve field problems and conflicts as they arise.

    What you'll need#

    • You are currently pursuing a degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
    • You have a valid driver license.
    • You possess strong written and oral communication skills.
    • You have a sharp eye for detail and the ability to spot discrepancies in plans or work.

    This role is based on-site in one of the following locations: Charlotte, NC; Charleston, SC; Kings Mountain, NC; Green Mountain, NC; Granite Quarry, NC; Liberty, NC; or Clyde, NC.
