About the role#
This student worker position at The Golden Spur supports food service and catering operations at the University of South Carolina. You will handle food preparation and customer service tasks while gaining experience in a professional hospitality environment.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and build food items following standardized recipes and directions.
- Store food properly according to safety standards.
- Set up, break down, clean, and sanitize workstations including prep tables and service counters.
- Serve food to customers and anticipate guest needs to ensure satisfaction.
- Replenish food items and keep products stocked at appropriate levels.
- Follow safety policies and maintain the security of company assets.
What you'll need#
- Ability to obtain or hold a food safety certification.
- Strong guest service skills.
- Previous food service experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking.
- Willingness to wear a uniform or required personal protective equipment.
- This role is open to students in majors including Civil Engineering, Business Administration, and Psychology.
