    About the role#

    The Senior Student Wellbeing & Care Coordinator supports student success, retention, and wellbeing across undergraduate and graduate programs within The Design School. This is a new position focused on helping students overcome academic, personal, financial, or health-related barriers. You will serve as a primary point of coordination, helping students navigate university support systems and stay connected to their academic community. This role emphasizes a proactive, holistic approach to student support through early intervention and relationship-building. Please note this is not a counseling position.

    What you'll do#

    • Lead Community of Care student support for The Design School, including high-volume case coordination.
    • Collaborate on Academic Probation and Corrective Action Plan processes to support student progress.
    • Assist with Course Grievance and Academic Concern processes, including tracking and faculty coordination.
    • Build and maintain relationships with university partners to help students access necessary resources.
    • Plan and facilitate workshops, orientation activities, and targeted interventions.
    • Coordinate with student organizations, clubs, and the Herberger Institute’s Student Engagement and Creative Career Services.
    • Partner with faculty and staff to identify emerging student needs and barriers to success.
    • Maintain detailed records in databases and analyze data to identify trends in student wellbeing.
    • Prepare reports and recommendations for leadership to inform strategic decision-making.
    • Contribute to the improvement of procedures supporting student retention and inclusive excellence.

    What you'll need#

    • Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
    • Strong organizational, communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to manage sensitive and high-stakes communication.
    • Desired: Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Student Affairs, Higher Education, or a related field.
    • Desired: Two years of post-graduate professional experience.
    • Desired: Experience in higher education, social services, or case management.
    • Desired: Ability to support individuals experiencing complex challenges with empathy and sound judgment.
    • Desired: Experience working in high-volume environments with sensitive information.
    • Desired: Experience using data, reports, or student success systems.
    • Desired: Experience teaching, training, or facilitating workshops.
