About the role#
This internship offers exposure to substation control house DC systems. You will work alongside Substation Operations Technical Specialists to support daily routine tasks and gain a fundamental understanding of our infrastructure.
What you'll do#
- Interface with battery monitors and battery charger monitors.
- Retrieve and analyze data from monitoring devices.
- Configure automated alarming for threshold violations.
- Assist with new monitor installations, including verifying internal and external wiring.
- Develop familiarity with substation one-lines and control design prints.
- Maintain software databases and create webpages for new monitor installations.
- Resolve loss of communication alarms.
- Terminate fiber optic cables and punch down ethernet cables.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Graduation date of Spring 2028 or later.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Problem-solving skills related to mechanical or electrical equipment and control circuits.
- Computer aptitude and experience with software applications.
- Familiarity with operating and handling power tools.
- Ability to follow instructions and work well within a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Time management and organizational skills.
