About the role#
The IT Technician 2 provides technical support to students, faculty, and staff at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. You will work on-site in Memphis to resolve hardware and software issues for the campus community.
What you'll do#
- Provide 1st and 2nd tier technical support through phone, email, and walk-in interactions.
- Use remote access software to resolve incidents, update workstations, and install software.
- Document technical issues in the ticketing system and assign 3rd tier workflows when necessary.
- Configure computing devices and install software brought to the Service Desk.
- Maintain and repair student print kiosks located across campus.
- Perform computer remediations and malware cleanup for the Cybersecurity department.
- Test and evaluate new hardware and software applications before they are released.
- Submit service requests for account management, cloud-based access, and equipment setups.
What you'll need#
- An Associate’s Degree (transcripts are required).
- One year of related work experience. A Bachelor’s Degree can replace this requirement. A combination of education and experience totaling three years is also accepted.
- Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft Office products, and Macintosh operating systems.
- Strong organizational and communication skills to explain technical solutions clearly.
