About the role#
Lake Superior Consulting is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. Based in Duluth, Minnesota, this role offers exposure to both office design work and field operations. You will work alongside experienced professionals to learn engineering practices and company procedures while contributing to project completion from design through implementation.
What you'll do#
- Develop and revise engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
- Prepare layouts based on design requirements and industry standards.
- Organize project documentation and engineering deliverables.
- Support field activities at pipelines and other project facilities, including equipment identification and tagging.
- Travel to project sites as needed, which may include field assignments lasting up to two consecutive weeks.
- Coordinate with design teams to incorporate field findings into technical documentation.
- Learn and apply client standards and engineering practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering program with at least two years of coursework completed.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to learn quickly.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Design or operating experience is preferred.
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in various weather conditions.
