About the role#
This internship provides students with hands-on experience by assisting with engineering tasks across various Divisions and Districts. You will receive specialized training on department techniques, procedures, and criteria while working under supervision.
What you'll do#
Depending on your assigned division, you will contribute to projects in design, planning, materials, construction, surveys, or maintenance. Your responsibilities may include:
- Collecting and evaluating design data, producing CADD layouts, and preparing cost estimates.
- Analyzing travel patterns, assessing system performance, and preparing bid proposals.
- Conducting quality assurance tests on materials and monitoring construction functions.
- Assisting with project inspections, attending site visits, and driving department vehicles.
- Planning highway surveys, compiling data, and operating control networks.
- Researching maintenance problems and working with district personnel.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering at an EAC of ABET accredited institution.
- Completion of at least 30 college credit hours.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Ability to apply basic engineering formulas to routine calculations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and a detail-oriented approach.
- A valid driver’s license is required for roles within Resident Engineer Offices.
