About the role#
This 8-month internship provides an opportunity to learn about the role of a medical writer in the pharmaceutical industry. You will become familiar with the documentation that supports clinical development. You will shadow an experienced writer through the clinical protocol development process and draft sections of clinical protocols or amendments under the guidance of a mentor. This position is paid and full-time.
What you'll do#
- Draft sections of clinical protocols, amendments, or other regulatory documents.
- Perform precise editing and proofreading of clinical documents, including study reports and Investigator's Brochures.
- Verify data within clinical documents for accuracy.
- Ensure all work meets authoring and quality control standards.
- Follow company document templates and Style Guides.
- Support internal medical writing process improvements or template updates.
- Attend and participate in project team and medical writing meetings.
- Deliver a summary presentation at the end of your internship.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment in a graduate-level scientific or clinical program, such as a Masters, PharmD, or PhD. Undergraduate students in a scientific discipline may also be considered.
- Proficiency with MS Office programs, including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
- Capacity to understand clinical, scientific, and statistical data.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
- Good interpersonal and collaborative communication skills.
- A motivated, self-starting approach to work.
- Previous experience writing clinical or technical documents is preferred.
- Experience in clinical research or working with clinical regulatory documents is a plus.
Location & details#
- The role is based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
- Work modality is hybrid, with an expectation to be in the office for a minimum of three days per week.
