About the role#
ATCO is looking for a student to join the Measurement and Gas Lab team in Calgary for a 12-month internship starting in January 2027. You will assist with gas specifications management for the natural gas distribution system and support laboratory processes for gas and liquid analysis. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position.
What you'll do#
- Analyze natural gas samples for component identification related to odorization monitoring, heat value measurement, and gas quality control.
- Process hydrocarbon and Sulphur analysis data and evaluate the results for validity.
- Investigate analysis results that deviate from normal levels and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform shipping and receiving duties as needed.
- Conduct experiments and other related laboratory tasks.
- Communicate technical information to internal teams and external customers.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate co-op or internship program at a recognized Canadian institution in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
- A valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- A strong safety mindset and the ability to work safely with various tools and equipment.
- A working knowledge of gas chromatography principles.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and move equipment such as cylinders and carts.
- Strong analytical skills, technical aptitude, and attention to detail.
