About the role#
Beam Therapeutics is looking for a co-op student to join the Biotherapeutics Discovery Team from January through June 2027. You will support drug discovery programs by screening, characterizing, and optimizing therapeutic antibodies. This role involves working with cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry techniques to help move programs from discovery toward the clinic.
What you'll do#
- Screen and characterize antibody and VHH candidates using affinity, biophysical, and developability assays.
- Establish and run functional cell-based assays using mammalian cell culture.
- Manage small and large scale protein production, including transfection, purification, and quality control.
- Document all experiments in the electronic lab notebook system.
- Coordinate and communicate with a multidisciplinary team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or MS program for Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or Biomedical Sciences.
- You must maintain student status throughout the co-op.
- At least 1 year of relevant laboratory experience.
- Familiarity with biochemical and molecular biology methods used in drug discovery.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis.
- Experience following written protocols and keeping a lab notebook.
- A detail-oriented mindset and a desire to learn.

- This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
- The term runs from January through June 2027.
