About the role#
The Intern, Development and Programs role assists with the planning and execution of fundraising events and program operations. This position is suitable for students or graduates interested in business development, non-profit management, or event planning. You will work with the Area Director to coordinate local fundraisers, manage donor outreach, and support office operations.
What you'll do#
- Support special event logistics including publicity, communication, and day-of preparation.
- Secure auction items and in-kind donations like decor.
- Research potential sponsors and send thank you communications.
- Create content for Instagram, TikTok, and other social media channels, including photos and videos from events.
- Manage the area friendship program using the Salesforce database.
- Assist with the planning of the Fall semester events calendar and materials.
- Collaborate on the Best Buddies 360 program.
- Help prepare for the Best Buddies Leadership Conference and local ambassador events.
- Attend supporting events throughout the internship.
What you'll need#
- Strong written communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of social media platforms.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
- Comfort engaging with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Confidence in making asks to potential sponsors and local businesses.
- Majors in Business Administration, Marketing, or Communications are preferred.
