About the role#
As an intern at BGBC, you will apply your classroom knowledge to real-world projects. You will work alongside industry experts to gain hands-on experience in the accounting services industry while building professional connections.
What you'll do#
- Participate in intern orientation and technical training programs to learn about tax and audit procedures.
- Shadow team members and perform procedures on financial statement areas such as cash, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and accounts payable.
- Gain experience with software used for bookkeeping, fixed asset tracking, and preparing tax returns or assurance work-papers.
- Review client financial statements and record necessary adjustments.
- Assist with payroll and 1099 annual filing requirements.
- Work directly with clients ranging from start-ups and family-run businesses to multi-national corporations.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least two years of coursework toward a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business.
- Ability to commit to extended hours and occasional Saturdays during the busy season from January through mid-April.
- A strong work ethic and a team-first mentality.
- Confident communication skills to build rapport with individuals at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
