About the role#
Bird Construction is seeking a Student Project Coordinator for a 4-month co-op term beginning in September 2026. This position offers you the chance to manage a specific area of responsibility on a current construction project. You will work alongside a supervisor and a technical mentor to develop your professional skills in a hands-on environment.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate drawings and manage specific scopes of work and trades.
- Review trade quotes to verify material quantities, hours, and rates.
- Participate in project meetings and conduct deficiency walks to update logs.
- Supervise sub-trade work and verify site conditions.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and layout site lines using a total station.
- Update project schedules and monitor manpower productivity.
- Issue warranties, coordinate progress photos, and produce as-built drawings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil, Mechanical, Structural, or Industrial Engineering program.
- Completion of at least one more semester of education following the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- A valid work permit allowing you to work for Bird Construction or its subsidiaries.
- Ability to lead and operate in an environment where change happens frequently.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- A sense of urgency and a commitment to achieving project goals.
- Ability to forge and maintain positive professional relationships.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship.
- Positions are available in Edmonton, Alberta; Saskatchewan; Kamloops, British Columbia; Victoria, British Columbia; and Vancouver, British Columbia.
