About the role#
As a Quantum Computing Research Intern, you will work directly with our quantum research staff to turn theoretical potential into practical applications. This role focuses on software development to support quantum systems, helping to scale programs for AI and quantum computing demands.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with quantum research staff to address customer needs.
- Provide software development support for the design, maintenance, and problem-solving of quantum systems.
- Identify new growth areas for our quantum and artificial intelligence businesses.
- Build MVPs to demonstrate capabilities to customers.
- Develop frameworks and programs that utilize appropriate computational resources for specific use cases.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program, with an expected graduation date in Summer 2028 or Summer 2029.
- Academic or professional research experience in computer science, quantum technology, physics, chemistry, or mathematics.
- Experience with data gathering, analytical work, and problem-solving.
- Proficiency in an object-oriented language such as Java, C++, C#, Rust, or Python.
- Understanding of quantum algorithms, software development, or computing applications.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools.
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, plus the ability to collaborate across different technical backgrounds.
- Preferred experience includes research in quantum mechanics, quantum sensing, or quantum networking, along with knowledge of quantum hardware, control electronics, and environmental control requirements.
