About the role#
The Provisional Service Technician Intern program is a two-year initiative designed for students pursuing an associate degree in diesel technology. You will combine classroom instruction with hands-on work to master the technical concepts required to become a service technician. This is a full-time, paid internship that requires dealer sponsorship.
What you'll do#
- Complete two years of instructor-led classroom and lab training while maintaining at least a 2.7 GPA.
- Meet all credit requirements for the John Deere University curriculum and attain certifications in Electrical, Hydraulics, and Service Advisor training.
- Assist senior technicians with daily service tasks and perform basic equipment repairs.
- Remove, disassemble, and recondition components.
- Conduct pre-delivery set-up and inspection of new equipment as needed.
- Complete all required job reports and forms while maintaining a clean work area.
- Track your time and materials used on every job.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations.
- Participate in mentorship at the sponsor store for 40 hours per week during internship periods.
- Dedicate at least 4 hours per week to self-directed training.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver license.
- Interest in learning repair methods, tools, and techniques for agricultural machinery and outdoor power equipment.
- Fundamental knowledge of engines, powertrains, air-conditioning, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Ability to lift at least 25 lbs repeatedly.
- Strong work ethic and clear communication skills.
- Forklift license (preferred).

- Compensation: $15.00 to $18.00 per hour based on experience.
