About the role#
As a Heat Treat Metallurgical Engineer Co-op, you will join the Quality team at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac. You will work alongside managers, supervisors, and production staff to manage projects from start to finish. This role offers hands-on experience in both the metallurgical laboratory and on the plant floor.
What you'll do#
- Operate metallurgical analysis instrumentation, including an X-ray diffractometer and Automated Micro-hardness tester.
- Perform testing on carbon steels, stainless steels, and aluminum alloys.
- Deliver critical material analysis and inspection results.
- Support the daily operations of the Heat Treat Metallurgical Laboratory.
- Collect and analyze data from manufacturing processes to support process improvements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS program for Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related degree with a materials emphasis.
- Minimum second semester sophomore status with at least 48 completed credits.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for a full co-op term.
- Ability to enroll in a formalized co-op program through your university.
- Capacity to occasionally lift up to 35 lbs.
