About the role#
The industrial design team is looking for a full-time intern to assist in the development of new boat models. You will work on projects for brands including Boston Whaler, Sea Ray, Lund, and others. This role involves research, design, and development to create products that meet specific customer needs. You will work alongside experienced professionals to apply your academic knowledge to real-world tasks.
What you'll do#
- Convert verbal and written product requirements into conceptual designs.
- Develop new product ideas using sketches, two-dimensional drawings, and three-dimensional models.
- Incorporate innovative design ideas into new product development.
- Present your reasoning when recommending specific design approaches.
- Assist the engineering team with problem-solving, design changes, and new techniques.
- Coordinate the construction and review of product mock-ups.
- Work with suppliers to ensure design specifications are met.
What you'll need#
- Minimum of 2 years completed towards a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Graphic Design.
- Strong sketching and rendering skills.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling techniques, with Rhino preferred.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work full-time from May to August 2026.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
