About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in heavy equipment manufacturing at the Komatsu Longview Operations facility. You will work alongside mentors on product testing, development, and analysis. This is a full-time, on-site role for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate on loader testing, including sound tests and controlled environment evaluations.
- Collect data and draft procedural documents and reports.
- Operate and maintain test tracks and heavy machinery.
- Participate in strain gauging tests to measure stress impacts.
- Use LINCS software for data analysis.
- Master 3D measurement tools like the FARO arm and Laser Tracker.
- Assist engineers with Manufacturing Root Cause Studies.
- Build spreadsheet models and create 3D drawings to support technical presentations.
- Support documentation for project requests and evaluation boards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or Mathematics program.
- Hands-on experience in technical or mechanical roles.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software, specifically Solid Edge or SolidWorks.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Physical readiness for outdoor manual labor and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to switch between office-based analytical tasks and workshop activities.
