About the role#
As a Student Project Engineer, you will work in the field and at project sites, as well as our main office in Tacoma. You will assist Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and Project Engineers with the documentation and administrative functions of heavy civil construction projects. This role involves working in a constant state of alertness and maintaining a safe work environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist the project team with daily administrative tasks and documentation.
- Collect and process timecards and equipment usage reports.
- Help the Superintendent prepare daily project reports.
- Maintain the job diary, including photo and video logs.
- Enter data into project software to track costs and quantities.
- Review and calculate quantities for pay estimates.
- Assist with site storm water pollution prevention plans and project safety requirements.
- Help update project schedules and draft correspondence.
- Maintain an organized field office.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Surveying, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
- A valid state driver’s license and the ability to meet company driving policy requirements.
- Ability to pass a drug, driving record, and background screening.
- Willingness to learn the heavy civil construction trade.
