About the role#
As a Healthy Start Care Coordination Intern, you will assist staff in providing direct client services to pregnant women, infants, children, and their families. This role focuses on improving birth and health outcomes through real-world experience in a multicultural and multigenerational setting. This is an unpaid internship.
What you'll do#
- Research and provide community resources for clients.
- Observe home visits with a care coordinator and participate as applicable.
- Review screening tools, including plans of safe care, depression screenings, and milestone questionnaires.
- Provide education to parents on topics such as safe sleep, child development, and household safety.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in a Human Services field.
- Availability between 8 am and 5 pm to complete internship hours.
- Interest in providing education to pregnant and postpartum women.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Resiliency and a sincere desire to help others in need.
