About the role#
The City of Jonesboro is seeking an intern for the Communications Department. You will work with the Marketing and Community Outreach Coordinator and the Digital Media Specialist to support daily operations and special projects. This role provides hands-on experience in local government communications, public relations, and community outreach.
What you'll do#
- Draft social media posts, announcements, and other basic communications.
- Create simple graphics and digital content for City social media platforms.
- Take photos and videos at City events, programs, and community activities.
- Assist with updates to City website content.
- Help track social media engagement and compile basic analytics.
- Support public meetings, livestreams, and other digital media activities.
- Prepare flyers, presentations, and public information materials.
- Organize photos, videos, and other communications files.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Familiarity with social media and digital platforms.
- Professionalism when interacting with City employees and the public.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Interest in fields such as Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Media Studies, Graphic Design, or Public Health.
- Experience with photography, video editing, or graphic design tools is preferred but not required.
