About the role#
This internship provides first-hand exposure to construction operations. You will work alongside mentors to apply classroom concepts to real business projects. The role focuses on supporting environmental health and safety programs at the project level.
What you'll do#
- Support the company safety culture and all safety initiatives.
- Follow company policies, including the code of ethics and workplace conduct.
- Manage environmental health and safety programs at the project level.
- Analyze occupational illness and accident data to identify trends.
- Recommend safety features to reduce employee exposure to hazards.
- Inspect facilities, machinery, and equipment to find and fix potential hazards.
- Monitor the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coach employees on correct practices.
- Help coordinate and present safety training sessions.
- Interface with OSHA or MSHA officials during site visits.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field.
- A valid driver license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Knowledge of construction safety, hazard recognition, and injury management.
- Familiarity with Federal, OSHA, and MSHA regulations.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to access all areas of a construction site.
- Familiarity with air monitor calibrations and fit testing.
- OSHA 30Hr or 10Hr certification is preferred.
