About the role#
The Underwriting Assistant Intern joins the Healthcare Underwriting team for a 12-week summer program. You will support the team by managing information and documentation necessary for underwriting activities. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Atlanta, Georgia.
What you'll do#
- Process incoming submissions, including clearance, data entry, and review of materials.
- Assist Underwriters by reviewing applications, supplements, and loss runs to confirm renewal or new business conditions.
- Handle Requests to Bind, which includes sending electronic Binder Confirmations and invoices to agents.
- Prepare policy documents that meet company standards and state requirements.
- Process service requests such as address changes, name changes, or cancellation notices.
- Monitor Underwriter workflows when team members are out of the office.
- Conduct underwriting and policy audit reviews, summarize findings, and recommend corrective actions.
- Contribute to various departmental projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Understanding of insurance terminology.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
- Authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
