About the role#
The Nurse Clinical Intern works in our Acute Care Units under the guidance of a nurse mentor. You will use the nursing process to provide patient care while taking responsibility and accountability for your individual actions and the outcomes of the care you deliver.
What you'll do#
- Provide physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their families.
- Develop nursing care plans by examining patients and obtaining medical histories.
- Document patient physical conditions, psychological status, and social factors in records.
- Review physician prescriptions and coordinate care with other healthcare providers.
- Teach patients and families about healthcare requirements, medications, and self-care skills.
- Evaluate patient care against therapeutic standards and modify care plans as needs change.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment by following infection-control and medication administration protocols.
- Keep equipment running, manage supplies, and troubleshoot issues.
- Collaborate with department leaders to enter and evaluate patient data.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college nursing program.
- Completion of all but the final one or two semesters of a CCNE or NLN accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Academic good standing.
- A letter of recommendation from your school of nursing.
- Previous experience as a CNA or patient care technician is preferred.
