About the role#
The Nursing Clinical Internship (NCI) at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital provides an opportunity for nursing students to practice at a competent level under the guidance of a Registered Nurse mentor. Interns are responsible for the nursing process and patient care outcomes while working within a multidisciplinary team.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions and coordinating with the healthcare team.
- Offer physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their families.
- Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, performing examinations, and documenting patient status.
- Establish nursing diagnoses, objectives, and interventions.
- Instruct patients and families on medical conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
- Evaluate patient care against therapeutic standards and health outcomes.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment by following infection-control policies and medication protocols.
- Document care services in patient and department records.
- Operate, maintain, and stock patient care equipment and supplies.
- Enhance nursing capabilities through training and leadership guidance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a CCNE or NLN accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Completion of all but the final one or two semesters of the nursing program.
- Adequate visual acuity to perform clinical duties.
- Ability to communicate effectively and distinguish speech and other sounds.
Location & details#
- Location: O'Neill, Nebraska.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts (7am-7pm or 7pm-7am), including every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation.
- Status: Paid, full-time internship.
