About the role#
This position is for a nursing student to gain clinical experience in a Med-Surg unit. You will work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care. This role focuses on job shadowing and performing tasks delegated by the RN to help you build your clinical skills.
What you'll do#
- Support the nursing process by assisting the RN with patient care delivery.
- Provide basic care, including hygiene, mobility assistance, feeding, and recording vital signs.
- Act as a liaison between patients and the nursing staff, reporting any changes in condition or concerns.
- Document patient data accurately and participate in shift hand-off reports.
- Use clinical technology and follow safety standards, including infection prevention protocols.
- Seek out educational opportunities to improve your critical thinking and nursing practice.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing program.
- Completion of at least one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Ability to follow directions and communicate clearly with the healthcare team.
- A compassionate approach to patient care and a commitment to professional accountability.
- Familiarity with patient safety standards and infection prevention.
- BLS certification and EPIC EHR training are preferred.
- Recent experience in an acute or long-term care facility is preferred.

- Schedule: Full-time, 36 hours per week, day shift.
